Who is behind Tricontinental Advisors?  

After earning a degree in Latin American Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, Leslie Forman took the next logical step: she moved to China to teach English at a university near Shanghai.

For four of the next five years, she lived in Jiaxing, Shanghai, then Beijing and built up skills in many industries, including advertising, consulting, corporate social responsibility, energy, and teaching — all while learning Chinese.

In 2011, she was ready to pursue her interest in Latin America again, and a great opportunity came along. In July, she moved to Santiago, Chile to participate in Start-Up Chile, an entrepreneurship program of the Chilean government.

Leslie founded Tricontinental Advisors to build stronger connections between Chile, China, California, and beyond, especially through translation, training, trade, and tourism.

Why California? 

Tricontinental Advisors focuses on connecting China, Chile, and California, since the entrepreneurial spirit pioneered in California’s Silicon Valley has shaped our work. This means building a “minimum viable product” (like this website), running tests, trying new tactics, bridging several industries, and learning through the process.

This startup spirit means burritos and dim sum from neighborhood restaurants, rather than big brands that have been replicated everywhere.

And yes, the spirit extends past the borders of the Golden State. Tricontinental Advisors connects entrepreneurs with China, Chile, California, and beyond.
